DISEASE SYMPTOMS that can be helped with magnetic therapy and the use of a limb applicator

Arthritis – joint inflammation

The characteristic symptom of arthritis is redness of the joints, associated with severe pain and swelling. The causes of most types of arthritis are not yet clear.

The most common form of arthritis is acute articular rheumatism, in which the large joints, especially the knee and ankle joints, are mainly affected. Severe pain can move from one joint to another, but most of the time it disappears spontaneously.

Acute joint rheumatism affects three times as many women as men and usually occurs between the ages of 20 and 30. This reactive arthritis is not caused directly by disease germs such as bacteria or viruses, but is the result of inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract or urinary tract, which can go dormant for a few weeks. Antibiotics usually do not cure this condition.

Chronic arthritis

Chronic arthritis (chronic joint rheumatism) mainly affects women in their 30s and 40s. The symptoms of this autoimmune disease first resemble a cold: fatigue, pain in the limbs, slight fever. But they soon turn into more severe inflammatory processes in the joints: first the two basic knuckles of the fingers are affected, then, in fits and starts, the shoulder and knee joints may also be affected, and less often the hip joint. This causes the articular cartilage to deteriorate, and often the joint becomes completely stiff.

The causes of this condition are not yet fully understood, so treatment is mainly focused on relieving pain and preserving mobility.

In chronic arthritis, magnetic therapy can have good results, especially in relieving pain and reducing the severity of the disease.

Arthrosis

This disease – classified as degenerative rheumatism – is the most scientifically well-studied area of magnetic field therapy. Numerous clinical trials show almost exclusively positive results. Arthritis is a disease of civilisation or a disease of well-being, caused by a lack of physical activity, which puts undue strain on the skeleton. The typical symptoms of arthrosis are painful joints, resulting in slower movements and often severe limitations in the ability to move at all. The most commonly affected are the knee, hips, fingers, shoulders and spine.

Arthritis is not curable, but we can relieve pain and prevent the progression of joint wear. The earlier we start treatment, the better the prognosis. Applying magnetic field therapy as early as possible helps cartilage to form, or at least slows down its breakdown. It is supportive and pain-relieving (after 4-8 weeks), allowing a reduction in the dose of painkillers. Magnetic therapy stimulates blood circulation and relaxes muscles, improving joint mobility after about 4-6 weeks of treatment.

Pain – general

Pain is basically a warning sign. The body warns you that something is going on in your body. However, when pain becomes chronic, it develops into a pain disease and, unlike acute pain, it no longer has a warning meaning.

Pain is sensed via so-called pain receptors, which detect stimuli and translate them to the brain, which is where pulsed magnetic field therapy can be useful. It works by increasing the threshold of excitability through hyperpolarisation and interrupting the conduction of pain for a short period of time. Because of the rise in the arousal threshold, the pain has to be much stronger to be perceived by the brain. This means that the magnetic field turns off the warning sign, but instead relieves chronic pain. Various studies have shown that pulsed magnetic fields significantly reduce patients’ experience of pain.

Varicose veins

A tendency to varicose veins is usually caused by congenitally weak superficial vein walls, causing the veins to lose elasticity and dilate. They can be further aggravated by prolonged standing or sitting, especially cross-legged, and lack of exercise. When the veins dilate so much that the valves in the veins become disrupted, we talk about varicose veins, which are seen as bluish bumps on the surface of the skin.

As long as the varicose veins are not inflamed, varicose veins do not cause pain or cramps. Lots of exercise, special gym exercises and cold water showers can stop the progression of the disease at this stage. Varicose veins become painful and dangerous when they cause inflammation of the veins, ulcers on the shin or thrombosis. In the case of a venous infection, the leg is painfully swollen, the skin turns bluish and bulges, the legs feel tired (especially at the end of the day), and the skin on the affected areas is itchy. Sometimes the knuckles swell, and cramps may occur at night. If you suspect that your veins are inflamed, you should see a doctor immediately. Varicose veins are not just an aesthetic problem. In particular, a poorly sealing vascular valve can lead to blood clots in the lungs, which can block the pulmonary artery and endanger the patient’s life.

As a general rule for vein problems: don’t sit and stand, run and lie down! This motto is the key to successful treatment. The outward movement is most effective when the legs are raised above heart height.

Patients with varicose veins should avoid hot baths, as temperatures higher than 28°C will dilate the veins further. In the case of inflammatory varicose veins, problems caused by blood congestion can be alleviated with an ointment made with wild chestnut extract.

Magnetic field therapy has a balancing effect (via the autonomic nervous system) and is well suited as a complementary therapy in the treatment of varicose veins. It also strengthens the connective tissue of the veins and improves blood flow. Unfortunately, even magnetic fields cannot eliminate varicose veins that have already formed.

Circulatory disorders – Raynaud’s syndrome

Raynaud’s syndrome is most often caused by flow disturbances in the blood vessels of the lower limbs. In the early stages of the disease, the affected parts of the body, especially the feet, often feel heavy and cold, with associated sensory disturbances (e.g. tingling sensations in the toes and back of the foot). When the temperature drops, the skin becomes very pale, and later on there is pain (especially when walking), muscle fatigue and cramps, so that the affected person starts to limp. In the advanced stage of the disease, pain is also present at rest.

Initially, general health is unaffected, but later headaches and heart problems may occur, and in severe cases, there may be deterioration of the tissue of the finger follicles and finally blockage of blood vessels. If the main artery supplying the limb becomes completely occluded, gangrene occurs and amputation of the affected part is necessary.

Raynaud’s syndrome-related problems are treated with connective tissue massages, light therapy, hot foot and hand baths, rubbing with a brush during the bath, vitamin E and blood circulation stimulants.

Magnetic field therapy is an excellent complement to drug therapy, as it stimulates blood circulation and thus improves oxygen supply.

Psoriasis (psoriasis)

Psoriasis is a skin condition characterised by the rapid proliferation of skin cells. It is a fairly common chronic skin disease in which the skin develops reddened skin patches covered with silver scales, which can be very itchy.

The cause of this skin disease is still unexplained, but the factors that trigger it are known. These include stress, wounds, hormonal changes due to taking birth control pills, pregnancy, menopause, alcohol, drugs and sunlight. The disease itself is harmless, but it is undoubtedly unpleasant and embarrassing for the affected individual because of its appearance. Conventional medicine limits its treatment to symptom relief, especially with UV irradiation.

Magnetic field therapy has proven to be very effective in the treatment of psoriasis, especially during the months of April and May. Treatment is lengthy. The effectiveness and correct use of magnetic field therapy is described under the heading >>acne<<.

Effectiveness: it improves conditions well to very well in 60 to 70 % of cases.

Rheumatism, inflammatory rheumatism

Rheumatic diseases not only affect joints and muscles and the tissues surrounding them; inflammatory rheumatic processes can also affect internal organs. This is why these diseases are difficult to define. It is a testimony to how wide-ranging a medical problem rheumatism is that, depending on the form it takes, it needs to be treated by specialists from different branches of medicine: family doctors, rheumatologists, orthopaedists, physiotherapists, pain specialists and anaesthetists. Rheumatic diseases are broadly divided into five groups: osteoarthritis, extra-articular rheumatism, inflammatory rheumatism and crystal-induced rheumatism.

Osteoporosis, also known colloquially as degenerative rheumatism, is a process that is not just a consequence of ageing; it is influenced by many other factors. Joint and vertebral wear and tear affects almost every person over 60. year of life. Because joints and vertebrae are stressed every day, in some people more than others, they wear out over time. The joints that are more stressed, the hips and knees, are more affected. Osteoarthritis starts with the cartilage in the joint changing, as the joint breaks down faster than it rebuilds.

Extra-articular rheumatism affects muscles, tendons, bursae, nerves and subcutaneous connective tissue.

The patient feels muscle pain; so-called pain points in and around different muscles are sensitive to pressure, and the patient is tired and does not sleep well.
